Hybrid Picking Level 1
In these first exercises, we see how to play the minor pentatonic scale of A at intervals of fourths and fifths. This requires continuous string changes that would be very tiring if performed exclusively with a pick. That’s a practical way to appreciate how much hybrid picking can make your life easier and also speed you up without too much effort!
In this level, you will practise the following aspects:
– agile switches between pick and fingers
– developing uniform attacks on strings
Hybrid picking allows you to embrace complexity. You can play things that would be impossible with other techniques: for example you can pick two or more strings at the same time, even distant ones.
