As long as you play your licks in a sequential and linear fashion, you get fully covered with the alternate picking level 1 and 2. However, you also need to jump between distant strings and this is why you cannot miss the alternate picking with string skipping.

Full details

The string skipping in alternate picking is essential anytime you need to engage distant strings. Obviously, you don’t want to pluck any other strings in between and this is sometimes not that easy.

That’s why Gymtar developed for you the right set of exercises to maximise your efforts and focus on two main aspects:

a) Right hand accuracy: you cannot really pluck the strings you are supposed to skip. Even worse, the idea of striking the wrong one instead of the string you really want to pick.
b) Right and left hand coordination: because both your hands are simultaneously skipping some strings, pay close attention to your fine coordination.

In this level, you will improve the following aspects:
– string skipping
– accuracy
– coordination
